Through Kachwekano ZARDI, NARO has mobilised community groups to carry out crossbreeding of Boer goats to 50% and 75% levels. The 50% crosses have been most successful.

Kisizi Hospital has a community outreach programme aiming to develop a population of crossbred dairy goats to combat child malnutrition. JOY Goat Development Programme has been assisting with training and advising on how to go beyond the initial beneficiaries to reach the whole community.  The outreach area includes part of Rukungiri and Kabale Districts
